Sporting are reportedly back in chase for the Arsenal winger Joel Campbell.
According to O Jogo’s Sporting section in their Wednesday edition, the Portuguese side also tried to make the signing last summer, but the deal never happened.
There were reports at the time of a deal being close, pretty concrete ones, but Arsene Wenger decided to keep his man.
Campbell has been wanted by Jorge Jesus for a long time, as the Portuguese manager also tried to buy him during his time at Benfica. O Jogo doesn’t mention any figures, and Sporting are said to be still learning the conditions to know if the signing is possible.
Campbell made 28 appearances for Arsenal’s first team last season, scoring four goals and making six assists. He wasn’t part of the squad for their Premier League debut against Liverpool last Sunday.
Sporting may try and find out the situation on this one quickly, enabling them to move on if needs be.
