All of a sudden, the return of Nottingham Forest fullback Renan Lodi to Brazil has become a rumour in the South American country.
It all started on Friday, when the player’s wife Rafaela Lima posted a story on Instagram. She’s currently pregnant, and pointed out that the couple is willing to leave Europe.
“I’m more than ready. And it’s not just me. If I’m more than ready, then you can imagine the child’s father,” she said.
That was enough for Athletico Paranaense fans to start asking the club to bring back Lodi, who’s loaned by Atletico Madrid to Nottingham Forest until the end of the season.
So as journalist Jorge Nicola comes up to talk about this subject, he points out that with the Reds paying €5m for the spell and the player having a big salary in Europe, it seems very hard he’d return to Brazil so soon.
He says the signing looks ‘impossible’ for Athletico, and there’d be ‘maybe a possibility’ for clubs who have more money, such as Flamengo or Palmeiras.
Atletico Madrid don’t seem interested in having Lodi back, as according to the Spanish media last week, they’re actually hopeful Nottingham Forest will pay €30m to buy him.
Those big numbers undoubtedly make a move back to Brazil very unlikely, regardless of how much he and his wife would like to have their child there.
