Manchester City defender Yan Couto has admitted he’d be more than open to playing for Real Madrid, even if it is his dream to play at the Etihad.
The defender has been speaking to Radio Catalunya, relayed by Mundo Deportivo, as he continues to impress while on loan at Girona.
He joined the Spanish side on loan in July 2022 and has been impressing ever since, establishing himself as a key player since his arrival.
This year has been one in which his star has particularly shone, with Girona currently third in La Liga and at one point competing for the title before falling away in recent months.
They currently sit ten points behind leaders Real Madrid but are on course to qualify for the Champions League, which is a major improvement for a side who finished tenth last season.
That’s catapulted Couto into the spotlight and his record of one goal and eight assists in 29 games so far have earned him plenty of recognition and praise.
Indeed, he’s found himself linked with a move to Real Madrid, who will need to find a long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal in the near future.
That’s something the Manchester City man has now been asked about, and admits he’d be open to it if they come calling.
“Playing for Madrid is an option if they are interested, I’m not going to lie. I’m a Manchester City player, I have a contract there and it’s my dream to play for City,” he said.
