Despite the strong rumours about Feyenoord boss Arne Slot leaving the Eredivisie club to join Tottenham Hotspur this summer, the coach is not feeding the gossip.

Ahead of the weekend’s match against Emmen, the manager held a press conference (via 1908) with the Dutch media today, and was obviously asked about that potential switch to the Premier League.

Slot, however, made sure to only speak of their upcoming match, ignoring all the questions about Tottenham.

“We’re here for next Sunday’s game. I’m not here to talk about my future. So that could mean that the English journalists are running off again with their tail between their legs.”

With Dutch journalists insisting on the subject, Slot made it clear they wouldn’t be taking any quotes from him in that regard.

“You will receive the same answer from me as your colleague. That I’m here for Sunday’s game, we take it very seriously. So you’ll not receive an answer from me on this subject. Then you or one of your colleagues can now try other ways again. Then it will be a very boring press conference.”

The coach even explained why he’s choosing not to speak about the rumours.

“The way in which my departure from AZ has been portrayed in the media ensures that I’m under a huge magnifying glass in everything I say about this subject. So I choose to say as little as possible again. Because the way in which at the time that coverage was completely against what I was allowed to do which does mean that when it comes to me, when it comes to new clubs there’s a huge scale in every word I use, so I try not to talk about it until I can say something about it.”

On Friday, it was Sky Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio who came up with a strong update on Tottenham’s chase for Slot. It was claimed that the coach is ‘advancing’ to become Spurs’ next boss, as ‘positive talks’ have been taking place between club and coach.

Even though the London side have been linked to many other names lately, it’s the Dutchman who seems to be the favourite against the likes ox Xabi Alonso, Brendan Rodgers and others.
