Elfsborg midfielder Michael Baidoo has spoken to the Swedish media following reports Plymouth Argyle are trying to sign him before today’s transfer deadline.

In the past week the Championship side have been linked with a move for the 25-year-old which has also been confirmed by Plymouth manager Wayne Rooney.

Aftonbladet have reported on comments Baidoo made in the mixed zone after Elfsborg’s Europa League qualifier against Molde last night.

He confirmed there are clubs trying to sign him, and said he’s tempted by the prospect of having talks with Rooney.

“The clubs are there. You know the clubs, but are they the right clubs for me? I’ll see what happens in the next few hours. I’d love to talk to Rooney,” said the Ghanian.

On Thursday, Rooney revealed in his pre-match press conference that Plymouth are monitoring Baidoo’s situation as he looks to improve his squad.

The former England captain said they had been in contact with Elfsborg, but with the window set to close it’s looks difficult to get a deal over the line.

Austrian club Lask Linz are also reportedly interested in the player.

Baidoo has made 65 appearances for Elfsborg since arriving in 2022, scoring 18 goals. He’s contracted to the Swedish club until December 2027.
