Announced by Manchester United and Real Madrid, the transfer of Raphaël Varane is close to being completely official.
Friday marked the final day for the Frenchman in Spain, as he prepares himself to travel to England ahead of his presentation as a new member of the Old Trafford squad.
Before leaving, however, Varane went back to Real Madrid’s training group in order to say goodbye to his now former teammates, who all applauded him and wished him the best for the future.
He did the exact same, struggling to hold back the tears as he addressed his friends and colleagues, and, relayed by El Español, said: “I leave with the feeling of having given everything. I have lived unique moments here. There are many emotions right now. I wish you all the best, I hope you have a good season. We will meet again, I love you all very much”.
The 2018 World Cup winner will now have a new adventure at Manchester United after 10 years with Real Madrid, during which he won four Champions Leagues, three La Liga titles and a handful of other trophies.
Varane is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s third signing of the summer, following deals for Tom Heaton and the much anticipated arrival of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.
