Newcastle United icon Faustino Asprilla has insisted he wishes Watford Yaser Asprilla nothing but the best of looks, after latter insisted he wants to surpass him during his career.
The former Magpies star has been speaking to Caracol Radio in his homeland, relayed by El Futbolero, after the Watford man commented recently about the Colombian icon.
The Hornets youngster was recently asked about where he saw his career going and if he would match the success enjoyed by Faustino, who enjoyed spells in England and Italy during his playing days.
His most famous was of course his time at Newcastle United, where he played for two years in a spell that is still fondly remembered to this day.
Rather than taking the humble approach Watford’s Yaser admitted that he actually sees his career surpassing that of his namesake, in comments that could be taken a number of ways.
It seems, though, the former Newcastle star was not concerned at all, and actually wishes the Watford man the best of luck in achieving his lofty goals.
“I wish him the best,” he said.
“I hope he can have a very successful career and that he can give everything in football to not only surpass myself , but to surpass everyone, many who are above me.
“I like that the players have confidence and that they have a reference to have a brilliant career. I sincerely wish him good luck, that boy has many qualities, surely he can give a lot to Colombian soccer, I hope he has a brilliant career.”
