Leandro Trossard has insisted he is not concerned by a lack of minutes at Arsenal so far and is convinced he will win over Mikel Arteta this season.
The forward has been speaking to Het Laatste Nieuws about his situation at the Emirates after arriving at Arsenal from Brighton in the January transfer window.
The Belgian joined Arsenal in a €24m deal in January as a mid-season reinforcement for their title push, which eventually wasn’t successful.
Despite an impressive record of two goals and ten assists in 25 games for Arsenal so far, Trossard has found himself as more of a rotation option than first choice since his arrival.
That’s largely because of the continued development and success being enjoyed by Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka on either wing.
It’s a role Trossard has continued to play this season, with him starting just one of Arsenal’s four league games this season and featuring in just 17% of the available minutes.
If that continues, it’s fair to say it could lead to problems on the international stage as manager’s want players who are playing regularly, especially ahead of the 2024 Euros, but Trossard isn’t concerned.
“A lot of young guys have come along who want to show themselves,” he said.
“That’s good too. There are many good players, such as Bakayoko and Doku. But I see that every week at Arsenal – that’s nothing new.
“I don’t know how the national coach feels about that (his role at Arsenal). I am still convinced that I will play enough matches. I will be ready for the European Championship.”
