As Brighton & Hove Albion winger Ansu Fati was a topic at Spain’s press conference, he was highly praised by the national team coach.
Luis de la Fuente spoke to Spanish journalists about many of their players, and when asked about the 20-year-old, had many compliments to share.
In a video provided by Sport, the manager claimed Fati has been showing great excitement in the national team’s training sessions, and also claimed he has big faith in the Brighton player.
“With Ansu, I think he’s a footballer who feels very happy with us. He feels free from a lot of good football situations and he’s very comfortable with us,” said Luis de la Fuente.
“I’ve seen him happy, content, he trains well, it’s a pleasure to see him. And here he knows he has the love and also the unconditional support of someone. In this case, I personalise myself, but obviously the whole coaching staff and the whole federation structure. In his game, in his conditions, he’s a great footballer, I trust him.
“So, he’s very happy with us and you can see it in the training sessions that many of you don’t see. You can see that he’s with the spark that he’s always had, we hope he can now show it.”
Fati only has nine caps for Spain’s national team, having stayed out of their last couple of games, and is still fighting to impress on an international level. So far, he only has two goals and one assist for La Roja.
The youngster was loaned by Barcelona to Brighton in the summer, and is also working to find a place in Roberto De Zerbi’s side. In seven appearances for the Seagulls, h’se scored one goal, and was brought on in the final minutes of last weekend’s home match against Liverpool.
