Italian manager Antonio Conte arrived at Chelsea with a lot of expectation, and has duly delivered so far with his team at the top of the Premier League.
At Juventus, Conte’s team won everything in Italy. He delivered three back to back Serie A titles, and built a great team in Turin.
Juventus’ current boss Massimiliano Allegri has been speaking to the Italian media (via Calciomercato), and has thanked the Chelsea boss for the squad he has inherited.
He said: “I thank Conte because he left me a team that won the Scudetto and the Italian Cup, even went to the Champions League final.”
Conte excelled as a manager at Juventus, with the Italian media always pushing for extra praise at the time, and he then went on to manage the Italian national team.
Needless to say, Conte’s work at Juventus and Italian national team got him the job at Chelsea.
Starting off very impressively in England, it remains to be seen if can make a similar trophy impact at Stamford Bridge as he did in Turin. The Premier League is more competitive and if Conte achieved half of what he did with Juventus then his appointment will have proven a huge success.
