Over the past few months, we have seen Southampton linked with a move for Ivan Juric, even when Nathan Jones was in charge.
That’s because the Saints approached the Torino manager before they appointed the recently sacked manager, and then tried again afterwards.
Southampton are clearly impressed with the work the Croatian manager has managed to pull off in Italy, but their attempts have been in vain.
We have seen a few reports claiming the Torino boss is happy where he is and doesn’t particularly want to leave, and all this despite his current deal expiring in the summer.
That’s why he was so attractive to Southampton, as he would have been cheap, and the rumours around his future aren’t going to go away until he decides what happens.
Still, he has been urged to put pen to paper by former Torino midfielder Patrizio Sala, who was interviewed by Toro.it.
He said, when asked whether he believes Juric will leave: “I see the situation in a very positive way. Whether he will sign or not, I don’t know. In his place, I would sign immediately because I think the bond with Torino goes beyond money.
“In my opinion, there is a prestige linked to the continuity of performances and results, and therefore I wish for him to sign. I wish it for him and for the Torino fans, obviously.”
