It appears that not every player who has left Nottingham Forest for their national team has done so unscathed, as Anthony Elanga turned up to Sweden with an injury.
Nothing that should keep him from representing his country, but the winger, who was bought by the Premier League club last summer, has a broken finger.
It’s all patched up and kept together, and the Nottingham Forest forward has spoken to Fotbollskanalen about the situation.
He said: “I know it’s a strange thing to say, but I didn’t feel anything. I have broken my ring finger. I did it against Brighton. After the game, I saw that it was a bit big. I asked our doctor and he said ‘I think you’ve broken it’. I was shocked, but it didn’t hurt so I thought it was nothing.”
Despite the injury, the player isn’t planning on missing a minute of his potential time with Sweden, making it clear he wants to play and will do if he gets the chance.
The Nottingham Forest forward is also very excited to be working with Jon Dahl Tomasson, who will take charge of his first games of the national team in the coming weeks after taking over from Janne Andersson.
The aim from Elanga’s end is to get into the starting line up and stay there, and he knows it starts on the training pitch, which is why, broken finger or not, he’s going to give it his all.
