Chelsea forward João Félix has revealed he wants to win the Champions League with the Blues this season as he enjoys life in a different system to the one he was playing in at Atlético Madrid.
The Portuguese forward joined Chelsea on loan from the Spanish side midway through the January transfer window as part of their huge rebuild in that window.
The move came about following a rumoured falling out with Atlético manager Diego Simeone, who has struggled to get the best out of Félix since signing him in a €127.2m deal from Benfica in 2019.
That led him to joining Chelsea, who were more than happy to pay a high loan fee of €11m to bring him to Stamford Bridge and bolster their forward line.
He has made a positive start to life in London, despite a red card on his debut, showing signs of his ability and bagging one goal in this three Premier League appearances so far.
It seems he is happy with what he’s seen so far too, admitting there is more freedom under Graham Potter than his former manager.
“The fact that Chelsea is one of the ‘big 6’ is always good, but I didn’t follow Chelsea in particular. Of course it’s good to be here. To be in this club is different.
“The position in which I play and the way we play is different from the way we played at Atlético. The teams we play are different.
“Clearly, I have much more freedom to put my football into practice, to be at the best level to help the team. That’s what I try to do, I try to have fun on the pitch.
“A career isn’t long, and it ends quickly. Just the other day I was 19 and I was at Atlético, now I’m 23. I think so, I’m feeling well playing here. Just need the results ti show and it’s perfect.
“I want the Champions [League]. 100%, the objective is to win the Champions.”
