Portuguese newspaper Record today features a front page story on Sporting fullback Nuno Mendes, and also a four page interview with him.
The youngster has been impressing in his first few games for the club, and his form is attracting interest from several European giants.
That’s why part of the interview was dedicated to Nuno Mendes’s plans for the future. Record mentioned that the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus have all been interested, but the player didn’t really want to feed the market gossip.
“My agents are in charge of this, whom I trust a lot,” Nuno Mendes told Record. “I saw the news, but I don’t care. I want to play.”
Still, Record insisted a little bit by asking him which is his favourite league, and Nuno Mendes had an interesting response: “I like the English league.”
Nuno Mendes has been linked to Manchester United for a few months now. Most claims from Portugal point out that his career is managed by the same agent as Bruno Fernandes, and he was offered in the same negotiations which took the midfielder to Old Trafford back in January.
The left-back is protected by a release clause of €45m, but Sporting may accept less after their finances were hit by Covid-19.
