FC Nuremberg rising star Can Uzun has revealed how he is reacting to the growing hype around him as the likes of Newcastle are linked with a move in the summer.
The youngster has been speaking to his club’s website, relayed by Kicker, amid a superb campaign that has seen the 18-year-old score 11 goals in 19 games in the 2. Bundesliga.
That’s led to a developing race to snap him up in the future, particularly as his current contract includes release clauses for German and foreign teams, set at €9m and €10m respectively.
Newcastle are one of the teams to have been linked with a potential move, with it reported at the end of January that they had made a bid for him.
Since then, numerous reports have insisted they are keen on the youngster, with it explained today that Newcastle can snap him up for €10m as of June 1st thanks to a release clause in his current deal.
In the meantime, he is focusing on his performances on the pitch and continuing to impress, admitting that he’s receiving support from his mum and dad as he rises quickly.
“I want to continue like this. I’m happy with how things are going at the moment,” the newspaper report him saying.
“It’s just exciting to play with this team. I see every game as an opportunity to put in a good performance.
“If I’m honest, I just shoot the ball where I think it’s best at that moment. You can probably interpret that as instinct. I don’t know (where it comes from). But I prefer to put the balls in the corners before I finish with a lot of force.
“I have a mental coach who supports me a lot in this area. Of course, my father and mother also help me to stay focused.”
