Go Ahead Eagles forward Victor Edvardsen has taken to social media to explain why he pulled out of a transfer to Barnsley at the last minute.
The Swede looked to be on the verge of signing for the League One club before the window closes today.
Expressen have reported on comments Edvardsen has made about his failed move to Barnsley. The 28-year-old has cited family reasons as the reason he didn’t commit to the transfer, and he was worried he hadn’t made the right decision to head to England.
“That I had the opportunity to leave is no secret, and the idea of leaving has gone through my head quite a few times in recent months. When I left Deventer, I immediately got a bad feeling and started to question whether this was right for me and my family,” said the forward.
Edvardsen has also been on the radar of Aalborg, Charleroi, Larnaca and Australian clubs this summer, and it seemed Barnsley have won the race to the sign the attacker.
However, despite passing his medical with the English side the player had a change of heart and returned to the Netherlands.
A move hasn’t been ruled out for Edvardsen in January, but with the window only hours from closing it looks like he will be with Go Ahead Eagles for the first half of the season.
