Ankara Keçiörengücü president Sedat Tahiroğlu has told the Turkish media he believes there’s interest in Galatasaray attacker Barış Alper Yılmaz, including from Arsenal and Liverpool.
The Ankara club have a 20% share in the Euro 2024 star following his transfer to Galatasaray in 2021
Speaking to Aksam, Tahiroğlu was asked about his thoughts on the Turkey international being transferred this summer and said he’d heard Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in the player. However, he also confirmed Galatasaray haven’t been in touch with him regarding a transfer this summer.
“We have 20% of Barış Alper Yılmaz’s share, but we have not received a request from Galatasaray to meet with us on this issue. I hear that Liverpool want him, Arsenal want him, but I know Nuri Sahin definitely wants it. I don’t think the price of €50m will come out. He could be sold for around €30m,” said Tahiroğlu.
Yesterday we covered reports from Turkey Liverpool are in the race to sign the right winger and could offer up to €30m for him.
Arsenal have also been linked after reports they were scouting him last season. Again, the Gunners are said to be still intrested in the 24-year-old, but could face competition from local rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Yılmaz started 28 Super Lig games last season, scoring seven goals. He’s contracted to Galatasaray until June 2027.
