Some days ago, it was reported that Nottingham Forest are moving concretely for Juventus’ Douglas Luiz.

The suggestion was that the English club are intensifying contacts for the Brazilian and have spoken to his entourage. Edu Gaspar, who is expected to join Nottingham Forest, has a very good relationship with the midfielder’s agent Kia Joorabchian and that can help the move.

Now, further motivation is provided to the Tricky Trees and a potential hunt for Douglas Luiz.

The ex-Aston Villa player didn’t feature at all for the Old Lady against Monza and after the game, manager Igor Tudor had a clear message for him.

He said, as relayed by TuttoSport: “Unfortunately I have to make choices: I cannot give space to everyone. He comes from a season with many injuries and few games played.”

Making his stance clear, the Croatian said: “At the moment there are people who are doing better than him. I have spoken to him several times: but I only think about the good of the team. I don’t give gifts to anyone.”

This clearly shows that the 26-year-old faces an uphill battle to have a place in Tudor’s squad for the remainder of the season, with the Bianconeri manager looking for guarantees in a key part of the campaign.

That is, perhaps, the biggest sign yet that Nottingham Forest have a clear chance of landing Douglas Luiz.

There have been suggestions in the past that Premier League clubs came forward for the Brazil international in January. Juventus only wanted a permanent sale, even if they were open to letting the player depart.

Unless they’re ready to accept a loss, they may have to reconsider that loan idea.
