Despite Celtic’s 5-1 loss to Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu last night, their star Jota still had a very good reason for a few smiles after the match.
That was his beautiful free-kick goal, which served as a consolation for Ange Postecoglou’s side despite the heavy defeat.
The Celtic winger was interviewed by Brazilian outlet TNT Sports, and talked about the ‘childhood dream’ of scoring at that stadium, claiming that was one of the ‘best moments in his life’, especially because his family was there.
A little before joining Celtic from Benfica, Jota had already played in Spain, which was in the 2020/21 season, when he had a loan spell at Real Valladolid.
So now that he scored such a good goal in that country, he was asked by TNT Sports if he’d like to return there and maybe play for a bigger club in the future.
The winger, however, quickly dismissed those thoughts, claiming he’s focused on Celtic for now.
“So I want to focus solely on Celtic. I think I’m building a beautiful story with them, I feel the support of the fans, the coach, the club. And I think the best thing is to wake up every day and want to be a better person and a better player, and that’s what I try to do every day.”
With last evening’s goal, Celtic’s Jota has now scored seven times and has five assists in 14 appearances this season.
