Manchester United star Casemiro was this week interviewed by Telemundo, having a long conversation about his career and time with the Red Devils.
The midfielder spoke a lot about the job that a midfielder has in the team, and was asked about his responsibility to help the younger players in the squad, with the journalist mentioning Kobbie Mainoo.
Casemiro made it clear he has big faith in the 19-year-old’s potential, and pointed out he works to make the wonderkid feel comfortable at Manchester United.
“Yeah, good friend, good player, excellent player. I see that he enjoys himself a lot on the pitch, I give him a lot of love because at the end of the day he is a player who needs that. And also we can’t give a lot of pressure to those players, so at the end you try to take that pressure off those players because that’s the process of football, isn’t it?
“Of football, of life, which I think, speaking specifically here about Kobbie, I think in three, four years from now he’s going to be one of the best players in centre midfield in the Premier League.
“They have to enjoy it, they have to have that process, they have to have this fear of not losing the ball, this fear of continuing to grow, of continuing to learn, to come here to Carrington and to keep growing, to keep training hard.”
Casemiro may not be having such a great season at Manchester United, but this interview, where he speaks Spanish, shows a lot about his understanding of the game and the role he has in the Red Devils’ squad.
The Brazilian obviously has huge experience at the top level and that was clear in his words. That’s why, despite ups and downs lately, he continues to be a very important player in the club’s dressing room, and we should soon get to see whether he’s staying for another season.
