Since his return to Standard Liege from Southampton, life has been hard for Moussa Djenepo, who has failed to impress.

There has been talk of the whole transfer turning into some sort of bitterness, but there is still plenty of time for him to turn things around, and the choice to come back to his former club isn’t something that’s bothering him.

This is according to Djenepo himself, who gave an interview to DH, where he discussed his decision to leave Southampton in the summer when Liege came knocking.

He said: “I had other concrete options, like in France, but when I heard about Standard, I dropped everything. I was 100% open to it because here, I feel at home and I know that I would have a special motivation for this club.”

Explaining that ‘when you love something, you don’t think about’ money when asked about any financial sacrifice he may have made by leaving Southampton, the 25-year-old has mostly found the same club he left, which is a good thing.

The forward has failed to find the back of the net or assist a teammate since he returned, which has put a bit of pressure on him.

However, that, as he puts it, will come when the time is right.
