Manchester United midfielder Marcel Sabitzer has insisted his move to the club came “out of nowhere”, but he “didn’t have to think” about making it.
He’s been speaking to SportBILD about his move to England after joining Manchester United on loan from Bayern Munich at the end of the January transfer window.
He arrived at Old Trafford as a temporary replacement for Christian Eriksen, who was ruled out for three months with an injury at the time.
He’s since established himself as a regular feature in Erik ten Hag’s plans and impressed too, with a series of impressive performances in the heart of midfield that have earned him rave reviews.
His form since January has helped to rebuild his reputation and he is expected to move in the summer, be it to Manchester United or elsewhere.
He’s more than happy with how things have gone so far and insists he didn’t have to think twice about the move.
“I came here out of nowhere. My only expectation was to replace Christian Eriksen, who suffered an ankle injury,” he said.
“Then Casemiro got a red card, and I was immediately promoted. Arriving at Old Trafford is a great feeling, the stadium is legendary.
“I didn’t have to think ten seconds after United called. I said straight away: if the time works, we’ll do it! It was a blatant day: I got the call from my advisor Roger Wittmann at 12 noon.
“I hung up briefly, talked to my fiancée. She said: do it! Now I’m sitting here three months later, and I’m totally satisfied with how it went.”
