New Leeds United signing Junior Firpo has revealed his worry that his feet will freeze in the cold weather in England.
Firpo moved to Leeds from Barcelona in a £13.5m deal this summer after the Spanish giants made it clear he was not a part of their plans moving forwards.
The left-back had joined the club from Real Betis in an €18m deal in August 2019, but after 17 appearances in La Liga in his first season, he managed just seven last season.
That’s led to the move to Leeds this summer as he searches for regular first-team football and progression under Marcelo Bielsa, who has become renowned for helping players kick on and improve their game considerably.
The 24-year-old is likely to develop in the same way, although it seems that there is one thing the player is worried about is the rainy, cold weather at his new club.
“What worries me most is the cold,” the new Leeds signing told DAZN.
“I think I’m going to have a hard time, especially when I’m playing because my feet freeze.”
Playing for Barcelona and working with them means that Firpo has become accustomed to the best football can offer when it comes to training.
Most would assume it would be a step down at Leeds given the level of the two clubs, even with Bielsa’s well-established meticulous nature behind the scenes.
Firpo, though, has been left very impressed by what he has seen at his new club so far.
“I’ve been here for two weeks, and I’ve seen more individual videos than in two years at Barça,” he added.
“They explain to you the way they want you to play and what they want you to do, and that means they take care of the detail.
“They have studied you to tell you how you have to behave in every action. That’s striking; it’s a very different way of working.”
