A couple of weeks ago, big media outlets published quotes which Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel allegedly said in Italy.

The credit was given to Gazzetta Dello Sport at the time, as the Blues boss would have stated that training Romelu Lukaku is easier than working with Paris Saint Germain stars Neymar and Kylian Mbappé.

Now as Chelsea played Malmo in the Champions League last night, Tuchel had a word with the Brazilian media after the game. He was asked by a TNT reporter about those quotes, and didn’t seem comfortable with the situation, now denying that it came from him.

“I cannot remember that I’ve ever said a sentence like this,” Tuchel told TNT Sports.

“I was very happy to train all my players. No matter where, It was always a pleasure and was always demanding. And now I’m a coach at a fantastic club and proud of it.”

Tuchel was also quizzed about the many managers who’ve been losing their jobs in the first few months of the season. He tried to make it clear that every situation is different, despite showing support for his fellow professionals.

“So that’s why every situation is a particular situation. Like I said, I’ve been in that situation. I’m sorry for every manager who’ll get sacked because it’s not a nice situation to be in. I think everybody does his best to have influence on the team that he trains, and influence on the results. Sometimes it’s not in our hands. I cannot say more because every situation is individual and particular and it’s the club’s decision. I cannot comment on that.”

Following the Champions League win, Chelsea will now return to Premier League action as they face Burnley at the weekend in the last game before the international break.
