Brighton & Hove Albion’s Jakub Moder suffered a serious knee injury in April 2022 and was on the sidelines for over 18 months, before returning to the pitch in November.
Since then, the Poland international has made 14 appearances under Roberto De Zerbi, and that helped him receive a call-up for his national team last month.
He came off the bench against Estonia, before Poland manager Michał Probierz left him out of the squad to face Wales in the Euros play-offs.
On Monday, the Brighton midfielder was a guest on Canal Plus’ Jej wysokość Premier League, and his quotes are relayed by Super Express.
Probierz had earlier stated he felt that the 25-year-old wasn’t ready to face Wales. This may not be the case considering he played 83 minutes for Brighton in their 2-1 defeat to Liverpool, days after Poland’s clash against Wales.
The report points this out and adds Moder ‘was dissatisfied’ with Probierz’s decision to leave him out of the squad to face Wales.
“Of course, when the coach told me that I wouldn’t be in the squad, I was angry and somehow, I think it was a normal reaction. Because I felt that I could help in this match, a very important match, because it was a qualifying match,” he said.
“I respected the coach’s decision. I supported the team from the stands. It happens, there was such a decision and I couldn’t do anything about it.”
Przegląd Sportowy have also relayed the Brighton player’s quotes, where he talks about his desire to make it to the Poland squad for the Euros in the summer.
“My goal is still the same, I want to go to the Euros and, above all, I have to play for the club to earn this call-up,” Moder explained.
