With Antonio Conte set to return to the Tottenham bench after recovering from his gallbladder surgery, there is a lot of excitement in Italy ahead of the game against Milan.

Among the various interviews around the country with journalists and former Milan players, some also managed to grab hold of some ex-Spurs people.

TuttoMercatoWeb sat down with Harry Redknapp to discuss the upcoming fixture between Tottenham and the Italians in the Champions League, where they inevitably discussed Conte.

The 76-year-old has sometimes criticised the Italian boss for some of the things he has said to the media about his players, notably when he was disappointed to see some crumble under pressure, but that hasn’t diminished his general thoughts of the man.

He told the Italian website: “He’s a fantastic manager, a top coach. An emotional coach, who always wants to win. His passion is fantastic. I would say contagious. I’ve never met him, but I admire him a lot. He did fantastic things at Chelsea and at Tottenham, he took on a difficult task.

“If he still has time to work, he can do great things, and for this, I hope he stays on the Spurs bench for a long time, even if we can’t be sure.”

That’s because there has been a lot of talk about Conte potentially leaving Tottenham at the end of the season, with the man himself admitting he missed his home country.

A lot could depend on where the club finish the season, as another year of Champions League football could certainly convince him to remain a while longer.
