Hull City are about to complete the signing of Ruben Vinagre from Sporting, according to reports from Portugal.
Newspaper Record writes the agreement is ‘practically done’, and that’s why the fullback won’t even be in the Lions’ squad presentation at the weekend.
It’s said Hull City will take Vinagre on a loan deal, and at the end of the 2023/24 season, they’ll have the chance to make the move permanent.
Sporting are happy with having Matheus Reis for the left-back position, and that means Vinagre wouldn’t have much playing time there.
That’s why Record writes the player didn’t want to ‘take the risk’ of spending another year without playing, and as he knows he’ll have more chances at Hull, he’ll ‘relaunch his career’ there.
Vinagre has experience in English football, as he once belonged to Wolverhampton Wanderers and even spent last season on loan at Everton. He didn’t have a great year with the Toffees, though, with only 204 minutes played in four appearances. That’s why it’s so important he gets more time on the pitch wherever he plays next.
