Isaac Mbenza clearly doesn’t feel he’s made it now he’s arrived at a Premier League club.

The 21 year old moved from Montpellier to Huddersfield Town in the summer transfer window. The deal is initially on a loan basis, with a view to making it permanent next summer.

L’Equipe this week published the financial details of the move, with the Terriers first paying a loan fee of €2.5m to the Ligue 1 side, and then having the option to make a deal permanent for €12.5m.

It’s a big deal for both Montpellier and Huddersfield and shows how highly rated the youngster is.

Currently away with Belgium’s U21 squad, Mbenza is hoping to help the squad reach the European Championship for their age range, believing it’ll help the careers of all involved.

Quoted by Belgian newspaper HLN, the youngster explained: “It has been so long since the U21s have qualified for a tournament, we want to make our country proud again, it’s important for our development that we play tournaments, starting with the European Championships and who knows, if we perform well there, then the Games (Olympics?), we all want to show ourselves to the world, a tournament lends itself best for that.”

Belgium will be eager for the youngsters to progress, to try to make sure the country’s golden generation isn’t a one off thing.
