Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Fábio Silva’s decision to end his temporary stay at Anderlecht and seal a move to PSV Eindhoven in January has paid off.
Operating mainly up front and at times on the left wing, he has managed four goals and an assist from 10 matches.
The Wolves owned player’s loan stay is until the end of this season and PSV don’t have an option or obligation to buy the 20-year-old. The Dutch club tried negotiating a longer loan deal but Wolves weren’t in favour of this.
That hasn’t stopped PSV manager Ruud van Nistelrooy from requesting his employer keep Silva beyond this season.
“It was already the intention, I wanted to capture Silva longer from the start. Hopefully it will work, but it remains to be seen,” he told ESPN, relayed by Voetbal Primeur.
Last Thursday, Eindhovens Dagblad reported Wolves have parked the proposal after PSV knocked on their door for the Portugal U21 international. It isn’t clear whether the Premier League side are ready to open talks with the Dutch club in the coming weeks or months.
Silva has a contract until 2026 and it remains to be seen how Wolves will respond to PSV attempts for a longer deal.
