Ajax are hoping to present Newcastle United star Tim Krul as their new goalkeeper very soon, according to claims in Holland. With claims current Ajax No.1 Jasper Cillessen is on the verge of joining Barcelona, Ajax want to sign Krul as his replacement.
Voetbal International have today revealed Ajax are hopeful of an agreement with Newcastle United, which would see Krul joining the Dutch side on loan for the season. The Holland international sat out most of last season with a serious knee injury, but has since recovered from this setback.
However, Newcastle United signed Belgian goalkeeper Matz Sels from Gent this summer, and the 24-year-old has started the season as Rafa Benitez’s first choice keeper. At this stage of his career Krul won’t want to be back up to Sels, and a move to back to his home country could benefit the 28-year-old.
A deal for Krul now will depend on whether Cillessen heads to Barcelona before the deadline, but the Catalan club first need to complete the Claudio Bravo deal with Manchester City.
Krul would extended his contract with Newcastle United, which currently runs until June 2017, before heading out on loan. Therefore, he could return next summer to, hopefully, play in the Premier League.
