On Boxing Day, Rasmus Højlund scored his first Premier League goal for Manchester United in their 3-2 win over Aston Villa.
The Denmark international arrived at Old Trafford last summer and his first five goals were in the Champions League.
Tipsbladet spoke to the Manchester United striker’s brother and FC Copenhagen midfielder, Oscar, on Wednesday. He revealed that his family was at Old Trafford when Rasmus scored his first league goal for the Red Devils.
“I saw his very first goal against Aston Villa. We were over there celebrating Christmas. We were all excited and really happy for him because it meant so much to him. We also celebrated the goal as much as he did, so he was happy there,” he said.
“The family and I are incredibly proud. He had a bit of a rough start over there, and now he has shown how mentally strong he is and he’s recovered. I hope he can continue,” Oscar explained.
Erik ten Hag’s side faced the Danish club twice in the Champions League this season, but the brothers weren’t on the pitch together at the same time. Oscar says the surname ‘Højlund’ has changed over the last six months
“It has changed, but again: I mind my own business. I don’t put too much effort into it. It’s still the same focus I have. I want to be the best version of myself, and then we’ll see where that takes me,” he added.
When asked if he’s tired of hearing about Rasmus, Oscar said: “No, I’m not. There’s a lot about him, and I’m happy for him.”
