The Edson Alvarez saga continues to move quite slowly, and the Mexican press keeps feeding the rumours saying Wolverhampton and Ajax are fighting for his signing.

Today, El Francoatirador’s column from Record claims that it’s the money that will decide where the player is moving to in the end.

He first says Alvarez would prefer being sold to the Premier League, since he likes all the attention the league gets. That would give Wolves a big advantage.

However, people close to the defender say it would be better for him to move to Ajax, since they’ve been developing young players. Moving to England would be better after he gets some experience in European football.

But for America, it’s more simple: the highest bidder wins. El Francoatirador claims that the Mexican side want at least US$14m to let Álvarez go.

And if a new club come up offering more than Ajax and Wolves, these two clubs will be left empty handed.
