Presented as an even battle on Wednesday, the fight for Bologna’s spot in midfield between Pedro Obiang and Nicolas Dominguez may have just tipped one way.

According to both Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport, it appears there might be some leaning towards the West Ham midfielder ahead of an important meeting on Thursday.

The pink newspaper explain the Equatorial Guinea international is the ‘favourite’, while the Velez Sarsfield alternative is the ‘outsider’.

As for their counterparts, they have a far more detailed account, stating the West Ham midfielder is the ‘first solution’ and appears to be Sinisa Mihajlovic’s choice, while Dominguez is that of the director of football, Walter Sabatini.

Obiang would be the easiest for the manager to work with, having already done so in the past, needing very little adapting to Serie A football compared to the younger Argentine.

We’ll know far more after Thursday’s meeting, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Bologna go all out for the West Ham man if Mihajlovic puts his foot down.
