Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has found himself being praised by River Plate’s Franco Armani, who predicted big things for him early in his career and is glad to see that coming true.
Ole cover comments from Armani today in which he is full of praise for the Aston Villa and Argentina star.
Martinez has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world in recent years, shining for both Aston Villa and Argentina.
He joined the Villans in a €17.4m deal from Arsenal in September 2020 and hasn’t looked back after a frustrating decade at the Emirates following a move from Independiente.
Since then, he’s become an undisputed star at Aston Villa and made himself number one for Argentina too, a position he’s more than justified with key roles in their success in the Copa America and then the World Cup in Qatar.
Armani has watched his rise from the sidelines as a teammate for the Argentine national side and it seems there’s no ill feeling on that front. Instead, the 37-year-old is very happy for everything the Aston Villa man has achieved.
“I have a very good relationship with Dibu,” he said.
“In these years that I shared with him I have gotten to know him more and he is an excellent person. As I told him when we became world champions: all this that is happening to him is very well deserved and I am happy as a person and as a professional.
“Every time we meet again, there is a very good atmosphere, we have a great time.”
