Earlier this month, Damga Gazetesi explained that Newcastle United have joined Napoli in the race to sign Davinson Sánchez in the summer window. It was also stated the Magpies had expressed their interest in the defender to Galatasaray.

The same report also said the Turkish club want to retain him and if they can’t, they will try to get as much money as possible.

Recent claims in Italy have talked about the 27-year-old’s agent making a trip to the country to hold talks with the Serie A side.

Akşam point out claims made elsewhere about Napoli and Newcastle interest in the centre-back and then relay comments made by the player himself about the possibility of leaving the Istanbul club after this season.

The Colombia international was at the Istanbul Aquarium, where the reporters asked him about recent reports linking him with a move away from Galatasaray.

“The transfer issue is not on the agenda right now. My agenda is only Galatasaray and the championship. We want to finish the season in first place,” he said.

Sánchez couldn’t really say a lot else, and certainly didn’t rule out a move. Being pounced on with transfer questions whilst at an aquarium is obviously awkward, something of a fishy situation.

Last summer, the South American left Tottenham Hotspur for Galatasaray and signed a deal until 2027. He scored three goals and registered two assists from 26 games this season.
