When Bruno De Carvalho sticks his nose into Sporting CP business and suggests there’s too much drama going on, then it’s worth a listen. That’s not because he’s a voice to be greatly respected, but rather that perhaps nobody has ever brought more drama to the club than their former president.

He took Sporting to its knees, was in charge during the training ground attacks, and even accused by some of being involved, although there wasn’t enough evidence for court, and continually went to war with… well with anyone he could really.

Earlier today, we covered the latest from Portugal on Viktor Gyökeres, which is essentially that Arsenal don’t plan to offer anything like what Sporting want, and the player is increasingly angry about the situation.

This follows reports Arsenal have frozen their efforts and moved to other targets, just after the striker’s entourage appeared to tell the Portuguese media that Manchester United was ruled out as a destination.

There has certainly been some agent drama, and that’s now being covered in Italy, where they’re all catching up because Juventus are keen. Meanwhile, Arsenal is still a possibility until they sign another striker, and there could always be a tail-between-legs retreat to Manchester United.

Bruno de Carvalho believes Sporting are correct to stick to their guns, and suggested Viktor Gyökeres himself should perhaps get a grip of the situation.

Noticias ao Minuto quote the former club president as saying: “He has an agent who speaks out all the time. I think any player can bang his fist on the table and tell his agent to keep quiet. I know that Gyökeres didn’t speak, but he didn’t tell his agent to keep quiet either.

“Until proven otherwise, you have to trust the president. This is not easy. This harmony is all very nice until there are conflicts between the interests of the players and the clubs. Then it starts with one player and spreads. If we are inflexible with one, all the others will understand what will happen to them. Those hugs, those kisses… That’s life. It’s called the life of a president. Regardless of everything Frederico Varandas says about me, trust the president.”
