Liverpool are in the process of completing the signing of Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz for a British record fee. On Thursday, the 22-year-old German arrived in the UK to carry out medical tests with the Reds.
Wirtz isn’t the only player the two clubs have been negotiating this summer. Erik ten Hag’s new club have identified Liverpool’s Jarell Quansah as their main target to improve defence, after Jonathan Tah’s exit.
The Bundesliga club are a few steps away from securing the Liverpool’s player’s services.
That’s according to Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg, and he took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share an update.
He reports the German club have reached an agreement with the Premier League winners to sign the 22-year-old on a permanent transfer. The journalist adds the operation will cost Bayer Leverkusen €30m plus bonuses.
Quansah will sign a five-year contract with the Bundesliga club once he completes his medical.
Plettenberg reports the defender’s medical tests are being prepared and are expected to take place next week.
Quansah played 25 games for Arne Slot’s side last season.
