Earlier this year, Leicester City and Crystal Palace were linked with a move for Midtjylland star Franculino Dju.
Both the clubs have scouted the talent regularly and their officials have travelled to take a closer look at the 20-year-old.
In the meantime, Franculino’s performances have been impressive. He has 15 goals in all competitions and he scored a hat-trick for the Danish side in their 5-0 win over Nordsjaelland at the weekend.
After the game, the talent’s teammate Viktor Bak told Ekstrabladet that Franculino calls himself Messi.
He said: “Messi, as he calls himself. He’s just good.
“Of course, it’s with a twinkle in his eye that he calls himself Messi, but he’s just good. He knows where the goal is, and he just scores goals there.”
Midtjylland boss Thomas Thomasberg also spoke of the Leicester City and Crystal Palace target’s lighthearted comparisons with Messi.
He said: “Of course it was good. He is a happy boy who loves playing football, and you can see that on the pitch.
“It’s a bit early for him to call himself Messi, but it was a great performance with great goals.”
This clearly shows that Franculino is a confident, young man and thrives when in the spotlight.
This should appeal to Crystal Palace and Leicester City, who would know that this is the youngster’s second impressive season at Midtjylland.
Last season too, he had found the back of the net 17 times in all competitions. This shows that the current season is not a fluke.
