Never managing to fully breakthrough at Arsenal, Ismaël Bennacer needed to head to Italy to finally get his big break in European football, first doing so at Empoli before moving to Milan.
His performances have attracted many suitors, with Paris Saint-Germain reportedly already making a first move to try and sign him this summer.
The Ligue 1 champions aren’t the only ones, however, with Foot Mercato claiming on Tuesday that Manchester City are also keen on the Algeria international.
Bennacer has quickly become a central part of the Serie A side’s plans, and they would ideally like to keep him going forward, but when Pep Guardiola comes calling, players tend to turn their heads in his direction.
The midfielder is no different, and it’s explained the former Arsenal youngster ‘wouldn’t say no to a return to England’, but only on the condition of ‘playing a European competition and if the club guarantees him enough time to continue his development’.
Guardiola has reportedly been ‘following him for a long time’ and has ‘already validated his profile with those in charge of transfers’.
Not only that, but he’s also ‘started talks with his entourage’.
When the former Barcelona manager wants someone, we all know how persistent he can be.
One to keep an eye on.
