Fodé Yannick Toure never made a mark at Newcastle United despite arriving with big hope attached after he left behind the prospect of a professional contract with Young Boys.

The striker then left the Magpies for Young Boys in 2021, where he failed to breakthrough and he’s now at Swiss second division side Aarau.

Yesterday, he was vital for the side in their Swiss Cup second round clash against much more prominent opponents Luzern. It was his goal that took Aarau through, much to the delight of Switzerland-based outlet Blick.

He now has two goals in two games in the cup for Aarau, who are currently in ninth place in the Swiss second division.

The ex-Newcastle man was asked about his sentiments by Blick after the game and the Senegal-born forward said it was “A great feeling”, whilst beaming.

The Swiss outlet only had positive words to say about the 23-year-old, and they’re hailing his journey from being a flop at Newcastle United to becoming a bit of a hero for Aarau.
