Reports on Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea are across the Italian sport media on Tuesday, with the Blues’ attempt for the striker thought to be serious.

There’s been claims of offers, and of Inter Milan likely being weak in the face of a huge bid, given the Serie A club’s delicate financial situation. Despite winning the league last season, inter are in a difficult situation and still need to raise cash.

All of this was partly behind Antonio Conte leaving his position in charge. The manager had a close relationship with Lukaku, getting the best out of the Belgian international during the last campaign.

Despite his exit, it’s still thought that the player wants to stay where he is, happy with his status as a huge idol at Inter and a star of Italian football. For Chelsea to complete a deal they need to convince Lukaku that a move would be best for him, and that’s where claims from La Repubblica come in.

The Italian newspaper report, via TMW, that Chelsea are moving aggressively to convince the goalscorer, and Marina Granovskaia has a plan. To tempt Lukaku, the Blues are preparing a ‘maxi-offer’ on wages, which would see the 28-year-old earn €15m a year, a figure likely to be after tax.

The report states that’s ‘almost double’ what the player currently earns with Inter Milan.
