Last Monday, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola met Barcelona president Joan Laporta and director of football, Mateu Alemany, during the Legends Trophy in Mallorca.

On Sunday, RAC1 journalist Gerard Romero reported the Citizens manager ‘offered’ seven players to Laporta, with these players who are no longer included in the Spaniard’s plans or want to leave the Etihad after losing prominence last season.

Claims made by Romero are relayed by Mundo Deporitvo, and the newspaper states the La Liga side will only take some of the City players as a part of an exchange deal.

The Catalan outlet points out that ‘in Manchester, they talk about Manchester City’s interest’ in Sergi Roberto and Ousmane Dembélé, Mundo doesn’t specify if it’s their own information or they are relaying claims made in the England.

Dembélé has a year left on his contract and Ronald Koeman’s side have an appointment scheduled with his agent to discuss his renewal.

In the event the France international decides not to sign an extension, the Camp Nou side will look to offload him this summer. It seems to be difficult to convince Dembélé to be part of an exchange deal.

Mundo state: ‘What is clear is there is a harmony between Barca and City, and a good predisposition on both sides to carry out an exchange, a type of operation necessary after the economic effects of the pandemic’.

It’ll be interesting to see which players could be entered into a swap deal, if such a deal is expected to take place in the summer.
