Beşiktaş had serious interest in Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayındır in the winter market.
Three days ago, Sport Witness covered claims from Turkey that Beşiktaş had reached an agreement with Manchester United. The move never took shape because the Red Devils blocked his Old Trafford exit at the last-minute.
The Premier League side’s decision to stop the 27-year-old’s exit saw Beşiktaş sign Devis Vásquez on loan from AS Roma.
A day later, Sport Witness relayed Turkish claims of the Black Eagles maintaining contact with Bayındır.
Fanatik on Monday pick up on that and cover the latest on the Istanbul club’s plan to sign the stopper in the summer.
Manchester United willing to sell
The report again points out the English club’s refusal to let him return to Turkey in the last widow.
Michael Carrick now has Senne Lammens, the Turkey international and 39-year-old Tom Heaton as his three goalkeepers at Old Trafford. The Premier League side refused to let Bayındır leave in the last window as there wasn’t time to sign a replacement.
Beşiktaş ended up signing Vásquez, who likely to return to the Serie A side after his loan spell. The Süper Lig club would then focus again on the Manchester United player.
Manchester United blocked his exit earlier this month but that won’t be the case in the summer. The Red Devils are willing to sanction his exit.
Figures for Bayındır deal
Fanatik claim Manchester United won’t demand a ‘significant transfer fee’ and mention a figure of around €5m. Their stance on Bayındır has certainly pleased Beşiktaş’ leaders.
In addition to this, the player earns €3m, likely net, per year at Old Trafford and would be open to taking a pay cut. The outlet suggests he would request for a salary of €2m per year, and that may still need to be clarified.
