Following the many rumours surrounding Ismaila Sarr in the past few months, we finally saw him leaving Watford this summer.
The winger was purchased by Olympique Marseille on a €13m agreement, with the deal getting announced by the clubs this week.
The local media in the South of France has been excited about this signing, and La Marseillaise today features an interesting piece on it.
The outlet managed to speak to Mady Touré, who’s the president and founder of Senegalese side Generation Foot, where Sarr started his career.
The club chief only had good things to talk about the transfer, claiming it was time for the winger to leave Watford, and saying Marseille is a great destination for him.
“It’s a very good choice. We must congratulate President Longoria who had the idea of bringing Ismaïla back to Ligue 1. I think he will destroy everything at Olympique de Marseille thanks to his undeniable qualities. His arrival in Marseille is the best thing that could have happened to him given his situation at Watford,” said Mady Touré.
It was in the summer of 2019 that Watford agreed with Rennes a €30m fee to bring Sarr to Vicarage Road.
In his four years at the club, with ups and downs in the Championship and the Premier League, the winger had 34 goals and 24 assists in 131 appearances.
It had been a while since his return to France had been rumoured, and now people are excited to see him back there.
