Earlier this week, reports claimed that Nottingham Forest are currently preparing an offer for Estudiantes star Benjamin Rollheiser.
As Portuguese newspaper Record covered Benfica’s chase for the player, they claimed there’s competition from the Tricky Trees.
Now Estudiantes sports secretary Marcos Angeleri had an interview with Cielosports, and quoted by Olé, he gives a clear message to the likes of Benfica and Nottingham Forest.
“It is possible to keep him for six more months, we are going to try. But it does not depend only on our decision and it will be what the market later demands,” said Angeleri.
Olé makes it clear that it’s Benfica who lead the race, as they are close to an agreement with Estudiantes to make the transfer for around US$9m. Plus the Argentine side wouldn’t stand a chance to hold Rollheiser until the middle of the year, as the Eagles are expected to demand his arrival in the January transfer window.
In case Nottingham Forest are patient enough to hold until the summer, that scenario may give them a chance of finding a deal with the La Plata side and let the player stay there for six more months. Perhaps that would be a way to convince them of a better sale.
