The Italian media today shares some surprising news on the future of Celtic star Matt O’Riley.
According to Corriere Dello Sport, Inter Milan are now interested in signing him in the summer window.
It’s claimed that the Nerazzurri are ‘moving’ for the Celtic player, and they currently keep him ‘under observation’.
Correiere Dello Sport recalls stories from the Scottish media which said that Inter Milan already wanted to sign O’Riley in January, with their chase being stopped by Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers.
Now it seems the Nerazzurri are ready for a new attempt, even though the report doesn’t bring details on the numbers the club could offer, only highlighting the midfielder’s qualities.
That’s undoubtedly a huge chance for O’Riley to be involved in a major move from Celtic. He was recently linked to the likes of Fenerbahçe and Leeds United, and a switch to Inter Milan would surely bring him to a whole other level.
Inter have just clinched the Serie A title and will be playing Champions League football, having been in the final of the competition last year. On a football basis, it’s a life changing chance for O’Riley.
It now remains to be seen how the Scottish Premiership side can make with his sale this summer, as he’s currently valued by Transfermarkt at €13m, which will almost certainly be lower than the reality.
