Brighton and Hove Albion star Pascal Groß has backed former manager Graham Potter to get things together at Chelsea following a difficult start to life at Stamford Bridge.
Potter moved to Chelsea at the beginning of September, moving to London to replace Thomas Tuchel in something of a surprise move.
He’s struggled to make a significant impact with the Blues so far, winning just five of his 16 Premier League games and picking up just 21 points from them so far.
His task has not been made easier by an ever expanding Chelsea squad, which, after a busy summer transfer window saw several more faces added to it in January when Todd Boehly went on another spending spree.
That’s left Potter struggling to know what his best team is as he tries to merge players brought in under previous managers alongside the new, youth focused squad that Boehly has been building.
Fortunately he has a good track record of developing young players, with that having been a major part of the success he enjoyed with Brighton during his time there.
And one of his former Brighton stars, Pascal Groß, believes he just needs time to turn things around at Stamford Bridge.
“Many are surprised that he has such problems with the Blues in the Premier League, but I think you just have to give him time,” he told Kicker.
“(Potter is) a good coach, he will manage, I am sure of that. (He) is a coach for whom the human aspect is important.
“He doesn’t want to neglect a single player, which of course is not easy in such a squad and with many personalities in the dressing room.
“He is very keen on harmony, but ultimately there will always be hardship cases and unhappy players at Chelsea. I think Potter will rotate as often as he can to try and get everyone involved.”
