With AS Roma now set to face Brighton & Hove Albion following today’s Europa League draw, we now get to see the Italian media wondering how dangerous the Seagulls can be in that tie.
Roberto De Zerbi’s work at the English club has been praised by his home country’s press for a long time, and they’re now excited to see how he’ll do against Daniele De Rossi’s side.
TuttoMercatoWeb discussed the draw on TMW Radio today, and invited Stefano Impallomeni to speak about the upcoming match.
According to the former player, Roma do have an advantage against Brighton, even though they may need an extra effort from some of their stars.
“Roma-Brighton is a fascinating challenge for those looking for proactive football. De Rossi could put De Zerbi in difficulty, who can win by a landslide or have blackouts.”
“The Giallorossi are superior in terms of values. However, we need to raise the level of some elements. Lukaku was only seen at the end and Dybala not much. Brighton have very high peaks or incredible lows. Roma will have to intercept the strengths and weaknesses of the opponents.”
Roma and Brighton will face each other in a first game in Italy on the 7th of March, with the second leg being played in England a week later.
The Giallorossi are currently 6th in the Serie A, while Brighton sit 7th in the Premier League, and everything indicates this could be a very balanced tie.
We’ll see whether the Italian side are as superior as Impallomeni now claims.
