Rumours about the future of Reece Oxford, and a potential January return to West Ham, have led Germany’s Kicker to do a little digging and find out just what the situation is.
Oxford joined Borussia Monchengladbach during the summer on a loan deal, and arrived at the Bundesliga club with much fanfare, and even expectation he could replicate the great success of Andreas Christensen’s loan from Chelsea.
A lack of use so far at Gladbach helped cultivate the ground for rumours of a quick exit, but there doesn’t appear to be anything in it right now.
West Ham do have a clause to take Oxford back, but there’s no suggestion they’re going to use it, and Gladbach can relatively easily block the move. Oxford can only return to West Ham if he doesn’t appear in a certain number of games, around third of what the German club will play.
Despite not getting going yet, it’s not going to be hard for Gladbach to get the West Ham youngster to that level, and there’s no sign they want him out.
Borussia Monchengladbach have faith in Reece Oxford, and still believe he can be a success in Germany.
