German newspaper Bild are reporting a €60m+ offer from Arsenal for Dayot Upamecano.
The Gunners have already made a small budget stretch this summer, and it would appear they’re not quite finished with their efforts yet.
Bild report the Gunners offer of more than €60m hasn’t made RB Leipzig wobble, and the Bundesliga club’s Oliver Mintzlaff has rejected it immediately.
Leipzig’s lack of interest in a sale is said to come from the need for Upamecano in the club’s new system. Julian Nagelsmann arrived as manager this summer and wants to play a 3-5-2 formation, with the defender a key piece within that.
Upamecano has an exit clause of €100m, which is set to drop to €80m, and his contract with RB Leipzig lasts until June 2021.
There’s a suggestion Arsenal could possibly return with a new offer before the deadline at 5pm on Thursday, however, this all feels like an effort to talk up Upamecano, with interest also claimed from Barcelona.
